Stadiums are named by name in multiple state laws

New York

Occupancy of 1,000+ triggers the requirement. The statute explicitly lists stadiums, ballparks, arenas and field houses used for sporting events.

California

Assembly buildings (theaters, event halls) at 300+ occupancy. Triggered by new construction or $100,000+ in annual renovation spend.

Oregon

50,000 sq ft and 50+ people gathering triggers the requirement, plus physician oversight, staff training and a responder on duty.

Occupancy thresholds vary meaningfully by state, 1,000 in New York versus 50 in Oregon. Confirm your own state's specific trigger rather than assuming one figure applies everywhere.

Crowd noise can exceed anything on a factory floor

Guinness World Records confirms a peak crowd roar of 142.2 dBA, recorded at Arrowhead Stadium in 2014, comparable to a jet engine at 100 feet. Average in-game noise at several NFL venues has independently measured 90 to 120 dBA.

The device implication

That is louder, at peak moments, than the industrial noise levels that already make voice-only AED prompts unreliable in a factory setting. Visual guidance alongside audio prompts matters as much here as anywhere in our catalog.

Coverage across gates, concourses and seating levels

The AHA's actual published standard is a 3-minute retrieval and response target, not a fixed device count. A stadium's architecture makes that target harder to hit than a single-floor office.

ZoneCoverage consideration
Seating bowl / sectionsDistance from any seat to the nearest concourse device, not just gate proximity
Concourse levelHigh-traffic, typically the primary placement zone by volume of people passing
Field / court levelAthletes and staff need dedicated coverage separate from spectator zones
Parking, gates, plazasOutdoor and pre-event crowding areas often overlooked in indoor-focused planning
Non-event daysStaff-only occupancy still needs baseline coverage between events

Call (855) 286-6384 with your venue's seating map and gate layout for a specific placement recommendation.

If a device is deployed, here is the honest timeline

Standard order processing runs 1 to 2 business days, with 5 to 7 business day delivery within the contiguous US. We do not currently offer an expedited shipping option.

The practical answer for a high-traffic venue

Given attendance volume, the realistic chance of needing pads on short notice is higher here than at most facilities we supply. Keep a spare pad and battery set on site rather than relying on rush delivery after an actual deployment.

See our full shipping policy for current timelines.

Frequently asked questions

How many AEDs are required in a sports stadium?

It depends on your state and venue size. Where a specific number is not mandated, plan around the AHA's 3-minute retrieval and response target across seating, concourse, field-level and outdoor zones.

Call (855) 286-6384 with your seating map for a specific recommendation.

What are the legal requirements for AEDs in stadiums?

They vary by state. New York names stadiums directly at 1,000+ occupancy, California triggers at 300+ for assembly buildings, and Oregon triggers at 50,000 sq ft and 50+ people with added training requirements.

Confirm your own state's threshold directly; this is not legal advice.

How often should stadium AEDs be inspected?

Check pads, battery and cabinet status on a fixed schedule, at minimum before each event, given the volume of people relying on the device.

Brand-specific pad and battery intervals are listed on each product page.

How quickly can replacement pads be shipped in the event of a deployment?

Standard processing is 1 to 2 business days, with 5 to 7 business day delivery in the contiguous US. We do not currently offer expedited shipping.

For a high-traffic venue, keep a spare pad and battery set on site rather than relying on rush delivery after a deployment.

Are these AEDs rugged enough for a high-traffic arena?

IP ratings cover dust and water resistance; several brands we carry rate IP55 or higher. Vibration and structural-shock resistance are separate specifications not independently verified per case in this catalog.

Call (855) 286-6384 with your mounting plan and we will confirm what a given case is rated for.
