HeartSine AEDs

HeartSine Samaritan PAD AEDs are the smallest, lightest, and most maintenance-simple defibrillators on the market. At just 2.4 lbs and roughly 8 by 7 by 2 inches, the Samaritan PAD line fits in spaces no other AED can reach: small offices, vehicles, aircraft, home wall mounts, athletic trainer kits, and church pulpits. HeartSine, a Stryker company, is the only AED manufacturer that combines pads and battery into a single Pad-Pak cartridge with a 4-year shelf life, making maintenance a single annual line item instead of a moving target. Total AEDs carries the full lineup: the Samaritan PAD 350P, 360P, and 450P. Every unit ships with a new Pad-Pak, medical prescription where required, and the industry-standard 8-year manufacturer warranty. Free standard shipping is available on orders $149+ within the contiguous U.S.

Why HeartSine Samaritan PAD is the AED for tight spaces and simple maintenance

The entire Samaritan PAD line shares a small handful of design choices that set it apart from every competitor. If any of these matter for your environment, HeartSine is probably the right brand.

Smallest and lightest in class

At 2.4 lbs and 8.0 x 7.25 x 1.9 inches, the Samaritan PAD is roughly 56% smaller than competing AEDs. Right for home wall mounts, vehicle glove boxes, aircraft cabins, athletic trainer go-bags, and any location where space is at a premium.

Single Pad-Pak cartridge

Pads and battery combine into one part with one 4-year expiration date. Every other major brand gives you two separate replacement schedules. HeartSine collapses that into one, the lowest-overhead AED in the category.

IP56 ingress protection

The highest dust and water resistance rating of any commercially available AED. Fully dust-tight and protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction. Standard indoor AEDs run IP21 to IP55.

SCOPE biphasic technology

Low-energy escalating waveform that automatically adjusts to each patient's chest impedance (20 to 230 ohms). Less wasted joule output, faster shock charging, and longer Pad-Pak life.

8-year manufacturer warranty

Tied with Philips for the longest AED warranty in the industry. Dramatically lowers total cost of ownership over the device's working life.

Pediatric capability without separate pads

Swap the gray adult Pad-Pak for the pink Pediatric-Pak. The AED detects the swap automatically and reduces shock energy to 50J. The only FDA-approved pediatric AED cartridge sold in the U.S. without a prescription.

How to choose between Samaritan PAD 350P, 360P, and 450P

All three models share the same chassis, 2.4 lb weight, IP56 rating, SCOPE biphasic waveform, Pad-Pak system, 8-year warranty, and audible/visual CPR metronome. The differences come down to two questions: how the shock is delivered, and whether the device gives real-time CPR feedback.

Semi-Automatic

Samaritan PAD 350P

$1,411
  • Analyzes rhythm, then prompts rescuer to press orange shock button
  • Rescuer keeps final control over shock delivery
  • Audible/visual CPR metronome for pacing guidance
  • FDA over-the-counter clearance (no prescription required)
  • Entry-level price in the Samaritan line
Best for: trained responders, medical staff, EMS-trained personnel, school nurses, athletic trainers with current CPR/AED certification
Fully Automatic

Samaritan PAD 360P

$1,651
  • Announces 3-2-1 verbal countdown and delivers shock automatically
  • No shock button for the rescuer to press
  • Removes moment of hesitation for untrained bystanders
  • Same SCOPE biphasic waveform and shock energy as 350P
  • Prescription required in most U.S. states (included at no charge)
Best for: home use, churches, retail, hotels, restaurants, any environment where the first responder is most likely untrained
Semi-Auto + CPR Advisor

Samaritan PAD 450P

$1,761
  • Semi-automatic shock delivery (same as 350P)
  • CPR Rate Advisor: ICG-based real-time compression rate feedback
  • Audible cues: "Push faster," "Push slower," "Good speed"
  • Visible CPR rate gauge on device for synchronized visual feedback
  • Prescription required in most U.S. states (included at no charge)
Best for: schools, gyms, fitness studios, large public venues where CPR quality is the priority alongside defibrillation
Safety note: A fully automatic AED is no more dangerous than a semi-automatic one. Both run the same rhythm-analysis algorithm and only deliver a shock if a shockable rhythm (ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia) is detected. It is impossible for either to shock a person who does not need a shock.

Quick decision guide

350P

Trained responders who want AED confirmation before delivering therapy. Lowest cost, OTC clearance.

360P

Untrained lay rescuers in public-access environments. Fully automatic removes hesitation entirely.

450P

Programs prioritizing CPR quality alongside defibrillation. Real-time ICG-based compression rate coaching.

HeartSine AEDs by use case

The Samaritan PAD's compact footprint and IP56 rating make it the right AED for several specific environments where bigger, less-protected devices struggle.

Home use

The Samaritan PAD 350P holds FDA OTC clearance, allowing direct consumer purchase without a physician's prescription. The 360P (fully automatic) is the most-recommended home model, removing any rescuer hesitation.

Recommended: 360P (fully automatic)

Schools and athletic programs

At 2.4 lbs, the Samaritan PAD is the easiest AED for an athletic trainer or school nurse to grab and run with. The IP56 rating handles dust, sweat, and outdoor field exposure that comes with athletic deployments.

Recommended: 450P (CPR Rate Advisor)

Aviation

HeartSine offers a TSO-C142a-certified Aviation Pad-Pak that meets FAA requirements for AEDs on certified aircraft. Combined with the small footprint and IP56 rating, HeartSine is one of the most-deployed aviation AEDs worldwide.

Recommended: 350P with Aviation Pad-Pak

Vehicle and mobile programs

Police cruisers, ambulances, trail vehicles, mobile clinics, and field service trucks all have limited cabin space. The Samaritan PAD's 8 x 7.25 x 1.9 inch footprint fits where larger AEDs simply don't.

Recommended: 350P or 360P depending on rescuer training

Churches and small businesses

Volunteer-managed programs benefit most from simple maintenance. The 4-year single Pad-Pak means one line on the calendar replaces two separate expiration tracking schedules (pads + battery).

Recommended: 360P (fully automatic)

Industrial and outdoor sites

The IP56 rating handles dust, sweat, splash, and washdown. For environments needing the absolute highest dust and water rating without a hard-shell case upgrade, HeartSine is the clear choice across the entire AED category.

Recommended: any model, IP56 is on all three

HeartSine battery, pad, and maintenance schedule

Maintenance on a HeartSine AED is the simplest in the category because there is only one consumable to track.

Pad-Pak replacement (pads + battery in one)

Replace every 4 years from the manufacture date printed on the cartridge label, immediately after any rescue deployment, or whenever the status indicator turns red or chirps audibly. Provides up to 60 shocks at 200J or 6 hours of continuous monitoring once activated.

Pediatric-Pak (optional add-on)

The pink Pediatric-Pak replaces the standard adult Pad-Pak (gray) for victims 1 to 8 years old or under 55 lbs. The AED detects the swap automatically and reduces shock energy to 50J. Follows the same 4-year shelf life as the adult Pad-Pak.

Self-test schedule

Runs daily and weekly automatic self-tests of the battery, internal circuitry, and Pad-Pak status. Steady green status indicator means rescue-ready. Red triangle or audible chirp means attention is needed.

Saver EVO software and Gateway connectivity

For multi-AED fleets, the optional HeartSine Gateway connects each Samaritan PAD to LIFELINKcentral for automatic readiness reporting and expiration alerts. Post-rescue data downloads to Saver EVO software via HeartSine USB Data Cable, replacing the manual monthly inspection burden.

Frequently asked questions about HeartSine AEDs

Q

How easy is this AED to use for someone with no medical training?

Very easy. The Samaritan PAD has just one or two buttons (On/Off plus, on the 350P and 450P, an orange Shock button), simple audible voice prompts, an audible CPR metronome, and pre-connected pads inside the Pad-Pak. The 360P (fully automatic) is the easiest variant for first-time bystanders because it removes the shock-button decision entirely. No medical training is required to operate the device, though CPR/AED certification is recommended for confidence.

Q

What are the ongoing maintenance costs for a HeartSine AED?

The HeartSine Samaritan PAD has the lowest ongoing maintenance cost of any major AED. The single Pad-Pak cartridge replaces both pads and battery on a 4-year cycle, typically $236 (adult) or $279 (pediatric) per replacement. That works out to roughly $60 per year in consumables, the lowest in the AED category, because every other major brand requires separate pad replacements every 2 years and battery replacements every 4 to 5 years.

Q

Does this AED come with training resources?

Yes. Every Samaritan PAD ships with a quick-reference rescue guide and access to HeartSine training videos. For hands-on practice, HeartSine sells matched trainer units (Samaritan PAD 350P/360P Trainer with Remote and 450P Trainer with Remote) that replicate the live AED's voice prompts without delivering an actual shock.

Q

How durable is the Samaritan PAD in a workplace environment?

Highly durable. The Samaritan PAD carries an IP56 ingress protection rating, the highest in the AED category, meaning it is fully dust-tight and protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction. The chassis is engineered for shock and vibration resistance suitable for industrial, athletic, marine, and outdoor deployments without a hard-shell case upgrade.

Q

What is the warranty on a HeartSine AED and what does it cover?

HeartSine Samaritan PAD AEDs come with an 8-year manufacturer warranty on the device, the longest in the AED industry alongside Philips. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The Pad-Pak follows its own 4-year shelf-life warranty. Trauma, water immersion beyond IP56, and unauthorized modification are excluded.

Q

Does the HeartSine require a prescription to purchase?

The Samaritan PAD 350P holds FDA over-the-counter clearance, allowing direct purchase without a physician's prescription. The 360P and 450P require a prescription in most U.S. states. Total AEDs includes the required medical prescription with every 360P or 450P order at no extra charge.

Q

Is the HeartSine Samaritan PAD FDA approved?

Yes. Every Samaritan PAD model has received FDA Premarket Approval (PMA), the highest regulatory clearance level for medical devices. The 350P additionally holds FDA over-the-counter clearance, allowing prescription-free direct sale to consumers.

Q

Can the HeartSine Samaritan PAD be used on children?

Yes. Replace the standard adult Pad-Pak (gray) with the Pediatric-Pak (pink) for victims 1 to 8 years old or weighing less than 55 lbs. The AED automatically detects the swap and reduces shock energy to a child-safe 50J. The Pediatric-Pak is the only FDA-approved pediatric AED cartridge sold in the U.S. without a prescription.

Q

How is HeartSine different from other AEDs?

Three things: smallest and lightest in class (2.4 lbs, 56% smaller footprint than competitors), single Pad-Pak cartridge with 4-year shelf life (lowest maintenance overhead in the industry), and IP56 dust/water rating (highest in the AED category). For tight-space and low-overhead deployments, no other AED matches HeartSine's combination of features.

Q

How much does a HeartSine AED cost?

HeartSine Samaritan PAD pricing on Total AEDs runs $1,411 (350P), $1,651 (360P), and $1,761 (450P). Refurbished HeartSine AEDs are available at 30 to 50% savings off these new prices through our Refurbished AEDs category.

Q

What is the CPR Rate Advisor on the 450P?

The CPR Rate Advisor is an Impedance Cardiogram (ICG)-based feedback system that uses the defibrillation pads themselves to detect chest compression rate during CPR. The 450P announces "Push faster," "Push slower," or "Good speed" in real time, and a visible gauge on the device provides synchronized visual feedback. CPR quality is the single biggest variable in cardiac arrest survival, and the CPR Rate Advisor turns a first-time bystander into a coached, on-pace rescuer.
