While the trainer can power on without the remote, all of the Trainer 2's defining features depend on the remote: scenario selection (4 pre-programmed + Manual Mode), Real CPR Help coaching prompts ("Push Harder", "Good Compressions"), pause and resume control, and shock-advised / pad-attachment decisions. Without the remote, the trainer cannot be operated meaningfully for classroom instruction.
