The ZOLL AED Plus Standard Size Cabinet with Audible Alarm (MPN 8000-0855) is the OEM 9-inch deep metal cabinet designed to hold the ZOLL AED Plus with its soft carry case intact. The extra depth — 9 inches vs the 7-inch surface mount variant — is what distinguishes this cabinet. Buyers who store their AED Plus in its carry case for portability or program protocol reasons need this deeper version; the 7-inch cabinet only fits the bare AED without its case.
The cabinet is built from sturdy metal with a baked-on white finish and a clear viewing window so the AED's rescue-ready indicator stays visible without opening the door. The door-activated audible alarm sounds the moment the cabinet opens — alerting nearby responders that the AED has been deployed for rescue and providing tamper deterrence for public-access installations.
This cabinet replaces the discontinued ZOLL 8000-0856 model and shares the same OEM specifications. For storage without the carry case, see the ZOLL AED Plus OEM 7" surface mount cabinet. For a cabinet that recesses into the wall to reduce corridor protrusion, see the ZOLL AED Plus semi-recessed cabinet.
The 8000-0855 cabinet is designed primarily for the ZOLL AED Plus stored with its soft carry case. The 17.5" × 17.5" × 9" interior is also large enough to accommodate AEDs from other brands that fit within those dimensions making it a useful option for facilities standardizing on a single cabinet style across mixed-brand AED fleets.
Unlike Cardiac Science cabinets (which have brand-specific hook geometry sized to Powerheart AEDs), the 8000-0855 is a more universal enclosure. The interior holds AEDs based on physical fit rather than chassis-specific mounting hardware. Verify your AED model's dimensions fit within 17.5" × 17.5" × 9" before ordering for a non-ZOLL device. For brand-matched options across other AED platforms, see the full ZOLL AED lineup.
ZOLL offers several cabinet configurations for the AED Plus. The right choice depends on whether you store the AED in its carry case, how much wall protrusion your corridor can accept, and whether you need wall-cutout flexibility.
The 8000-0855 is a surface-mount cabinet it attaches directly to the wall surface through mounting holes in the back plate. No drywall cutout, no electrical work for the alarm itself. Total install time is typically 30 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools.
The 8000-0855 cabinet ships without wall-mounting hardware. The buyer supplies the appropriate screws and wall anchors for the wall type wood screws for stud-mounting, rated toggle bolts for drywall-only installs, masonry anchors for brick or concrete. Confirm your hardware can hold at least 30 pounds of combined cabinet plus AED weight. The cabinet weighs 17 pounds empty; an AED Plus in its carry case adds roughly 7 pounds.
U.S. state laws on AED placement, signage, and registration vary. The ZOLL AED Plus Standard Size Cabinet meets equipment-side requirements for alarmed, publicly visible AED storage in every state. Where you mount it, how you register the AED, and how you log inspections is governed by your state. Higher-regulation states are summarized below.
AED registration with local EMS required. Monthly readiness checks must be logged. Signage and AED location notification to building occupants required (Health & Safety Code §1797.196).
AED owners must register with the regional EMS council. Health care facilities and public schools have additional signage and training requirements (Public Health Law §3000-b).
AED owners must notify the local EMS agency of each AED's location. Regular maintenance and physician oversight required (Health & Safety Code §779).
Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency Preparedness Act requires AEDs in fitness facilities with trained staff. Public schools (K-12) require AEDs on premises.
AED owners encouraged to register with local EMS. State schools and public buildings have specific placement and training requirements (F.S. §768.1325).
Cardiac Arrest Survival Act provides Good Samaritan protection nationwide. OSHA recommends AED placement in workplaces where cardiac risk or response delay exists. FAA requires AEDs on most commercial aircraft.
