This Starter Kit fits the LIFEPAK CR Plus, LIFEPAK EXPRESS, LIFEPAK 1000, and LIFEPAK 500 (biphasic units with a pink connector only), the exact same platform as the bare replacement pads (part number 11101-000016). It does not fit the newer LIFEPAK CR2, which uses a completely different, universal adult/child electrode.

The Physio-Control Pediatric Electrode Pad Starter Kit (part number 11101-000017) packages the same reduced-energy Infant/Child electrode pads sold as our standard Infant/Child Electrode Pads (11101-000016) together with a dedicated storage pouch and quick-reference instructions, aimed at programs adding pediatric coverage to a LIFEPAK for the first time.
The electrodes inside this kit are clinically identical to the bare replacement pads: same energy reduction, same patient indication, same 2-year shelf life, same platform compatibility. What this kit adds is the cloth-handled storage pouch, designed to clip directly to your LIFEPAK CR Plus or EXPRESS soft carry case so the pediatric set stays physically with the AED rather than in a separate drawer, plus a quick-use instruction card and label that walks a first-time user through correct application.

If your LIFEPAK 500 was manufactured before 8/9/02, it does not have the pink connector these pads require and cannot be upgraded to accept them; contact Total AEDs to confirm your options. Setting up this Starter Kit for the first time is a short, one-time task; using the pads during a rescue follows the same sequence as any compatible LIFEPAK electrode.
2 years from date of manufacture. The expiration date is printed on the sealed electrode package inside the kit. Total AEDs guarantees at least 12 months of remaining shelf life on every kit at time of shipment. Note that the newer LIFEPAK CR2's electrode (part 11101-000021) carries a longer 4-year shelf life; this Starter Kit's 2-year figure applies specifically to the CR Plus, EXPRESS, 1000, and 500 platform.
No. This Starter Kit and the bare 11101-000016 electrode pads are both built for the LIFEPAK CR Plus, EXPRESS, 1000, and pink-connector 500, not the CR2. The LIFEPAK CR2 uses a completely different design: a single universal electrode, the LIFEPAK CR2 QUIK-STEP Adult/Child Electrode Pad (part 11101-000021), that works for both adult and pediatric patients from one pad, with Child Mode activated on the AED itself rather than a separate pediatric-only cartridge.
If you own a LIFEPAK CR2, order that product instead. Neither this Starter Kit nor 11101-000016 will fit a CR2 under any circumstance.
Disconnect any adult electrodes currently connected to your compatible LIFEPAK, connect the pediatric pads via the QUIK-COMBO connector, then apply the pads to the patient's bare chest following the placement diagrams printed on the electrodes. The AED automatically reduces delivered energy once the pediatric pads are connected; there is no separate mode to select. Only as a last resort. Current AHA guidance allows adult pads on a pediatric patient when pediatric pads are genuinely unavailable, because any defibrillation attempt is better than none, and responders should not delay therapy trying to confirm a patient's exact age or weight.
