Every other AED on the market requires the rescuer to stop chest compressions so the device can analyze the patient's heart rhythm without compression artifact. That pause typically lasts 5 to 10 seconds and reduces chest-compression fraction the percentage of time compressions are actually being delivered.
The LIFEPAK CR2 is the only AED that uses an algorithm to filter out compression artifact and analyze the ECG signal in real time while compressions continue. If the rhythm is non-shockable, compressions never stop.
