The Philips HeartStart FRx (model 861304) sits at the top of the Philips public-access AED line. Where the HeartStart OnSite targets lay rescuers in indoor workplace and home settings, the FRx targets trained first responders and rugged environments. Pediatric Key vs Pad Swap

Most AEDs require physically swapping adult pads for pediatric pads when treating a child. The FRx works differently: a small physical key inserts into a slot on the side of the unit. When the key is present, the FRx automatically reduces shock energy from 150 J to 50 J and updates the voice prompts for pediatric rescue. No pad swap. No second cartridge to track expiration on. Position for 90-second access. Place the AED so any responder in the building or fleet vehicle can reach it, deploy it on the patient, and deliver the first shock within three minutes. This typically means one AED per 60 to 90 seconds of round-trip walking distance, or one per fleet vehicle for mobile programs.
Mount the handle at ADA-compliant height. Under the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, the operable handle should sit no higher than 48 inches above the finished floor for unobstructed forward reach, or 54 inches for side reach.
