Setup and Classroom Use

The 450P Trainer drops into an existing CPR/AED training program with minimal instructor overhead. Initial setup takes approximately 10 minutes for first-time language configuration and battery charge. The CPR Rate Advisor coaching workflow is the one area where instructor preparation differs from running the standard 350P/360P Trainer.

Charge the rechargeable battery before first use. Connect the A/C power supply and charge the trainer fully (approximately 6 hours from empty). The LED indicators show charging status. Plan to charge overnight before any training day for full 7-hour runtime.
Insert the AAA batteries into the remote. The included 2 AAA batteries go into the wireless instructor remote. Test remote function by pressing any button and verifying the trainer responds.
Familiarize with the CPR Rate Advisor buttons on the remote. Before your first class, locate the four dedicated CPR Rate Advisor buttons on the remote: "Push Faster", "Push Slower", "Good Speed", and "Begin CPR". Safety, Considerations, and Common Misuse

Never Use This Trainer in a Real Emergency The HeartSine Samaritan PAD 450P Trainer cannot deliver an electric shock. It has no defibrillation capability. Using it on a cardiac arrest patient will provide voice prompts but no therapy, costing critical minutes. Store the trainer in its carry case separately from any clinical Samaritan PAD AED, in a labeled training-equipment cabinet, never in a public-access AED cabinet.
CPR Rate Advisor Is Instructor-Triggered, Not Automatic On the clinical 450P, the device measures the rescuer's compression rate automatically and triggers prompts as needed. On this trainer, the instructor must observe the student and manually trigger the appropriate prompt via the remote. Set expectations with students up front: explain that the prompts they hear during training come from the instructor's remote, while the prompts they would hear in a real emergency on the clinical device come from automatic measurement. The prompts themselves are identical.
Trainer Pads Cannot Substitute for Clinical Pad-Pak The clinical HeartSine Samaritan PAD 450P uses a Pad-Pak (a sealed cartridge that combines pads and battery into a single 4-year shelf-life consumable). The trainer uses a different format: reusable trainer pads with a cable rewind mechanism, NOT a Pad-Pak. When teaching students, explicitly demonstrate the Pad-Pak insertion sequence using a separate (expired or training) Pad-Pak cartridge so they understand the actual rescue workflow.

How many training scenarios are pre-programmed into the remote?

Six (6) pre-programmed AHA/ERC scenarios are loaded onto the trainer at the factory. The scenarios cover the major rhythms students will encounter on the clinical Samaritan PAD 450P: shockable rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, pulseless ventricular tachycardia) and non-shockable rhythms. Mix scenario types across your class so students learn that the AED does NOT shock every patient. Within each scenario, the instructor can additionally trigger the four CPR Rate Advisor prompts via the remote to coach the student through the compression phase.

Is there a warranty that covers the remote control separately from the trainer?
