Product Overview

The HeartSine Samaritan PAD 360P sits in the middle of HeartSine's three-model lineup. It shares the 350P's compact form factor, the same SCOPE biphasic waveform, the same Pad-Pak cartridge, and the same 8-year warranty. The single functional difference is shock delivery: the 350P is semi-automatic (rescuer presses the orange shock button when prompted), while the 360P is fully automatic (the AED announces "Stand clear, shock will be delivered" and discharges automatically after a 3-second countdown).

Why Fully Automatic Matters

Research on bystander AED use consistently shows that untrained rescuers hesitate at the shock button. Some never press it. A fully automatic AED removes that decision from the rescuer entirely. As long as pads are correctly placed and the rhythm is shockable, the 360P delivers the therapy. This is the right choice for community AED programs, retail and hospitality environments, places of worship, and any deployment where the most likely rescuer has zero AED training.

To prevent accidental shock to a rescuer, the 360P uses a Motion Detection Algorithm: it monitors the ICG signal through the electrodes during the countdown and announces "Motion detected, do not touch the patient" if it detects ongoing contact. The shock only delivers when the patient is isolated.

The Pad-Pak Cost Advantage

HeartSine consolidates the adult electrodes and battery into a single Pad-Pak cartridge with one expiration date. Competing AEDs require tracking and replacing two separate consumables (pads on a 2 to 5-year cycle, batteries on a 4 to 5-year cycle). Installation and Placement

At 2.4 lbs and roughly the size of a paperback book, the HeartSine 360P is one of the lightest and most compact public-access AEDs available. It fits virtually any cabinet or bracket and is well-suited to mobile applications: fleet vehicles, marine, aviation, and remote outdoor venues. Placement decisions drive survival outcomes more than any AED feature: every minute of delay between collapse and defibrillation reduces survival probability by approximately 10 percent.

Position for 90-second access. Place the AED so any responder in the building can reach it, deploy it on the patient, and deliver the first shock within three minutes. This typically means one AED per 60 to 90 seconds of round-trip walking distance.
Mount the handle at ADA-compliant height. Under the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, the operable handle should sit no higher than 48 inches above the finished floor for unobstructed forward reach, or 54 inches for side reach. The 360P's low 2.4-lb weight works with virtually any cabinet in our AED wall cabinets selection.
Avoid corridor protrusion violations. Objects mounted between 27 and 80 inches above the finished floor cannot protrude more than 4 inches into walkways. In narrow corridors, use semi-recessed or recessed cabinets rather than surface-mounted units.
Post AED signage. Mount an ISO 7010 E010 AED sign (white heart and lightning bolt on green) directly above or beside the cabinet, plus a perpendicular flag sign at 84 to 96 inches above the floor for distance visibility.
Brief responders on automatic shock behavior. Because the 360P delivers shocks automatically, designated responders should be specifically briefed on the "Stand clear" voice prompt and the 3-second countdown. Bystanders may not be familiar with fully-automatic AEDs, so include a one-line note in your AED program documentation.
Register and track the device. Register the AED with HeartSine to activate the 8-year warranty, your local EMS agency (required in many states), and an AED program management platform such as Total AEDs Program Management for automated Pad-Pak expiration and inspection tracking.

Safety and Considerations

Fully Automatic Shock Behavior The 360P delivers shocks without requiring the rescuer to press a button. After analyzing the rhythm and determining a shock is indicated, the AED announces "Stand clear, shock will be delivered" and counts down 3 seconds. The rescuer and all bystanders must clear the patient during the countdown. The 360P's Motion Detection Algorithm will abort the shock and prompt "Motion detected, do not touch the patient" if contact is detected, but rescuer training on the auto-shock pattern remains critical.
Prescription Required (Unlike the 350P) Unlike the HeartSine 350P, which is FDA-cleared for over-the-counter home purchase without a prescription, the fully-automatic 360P requires a physician's prescription. Pad-Pak Shelf Life is 4 Years from Manufacture The Pad-Pak's 4-year shelf life starts at the date of manufacture printed on the cartridge, not the date of purchase or installation. When ordering replacements, verify the manufacture date is recent to maximize service life. Replace immediately after any rescue use.
Outdoor and Mobile Use The IP56 rating is the highest in the public-access AED category and provides excellent protection against dust and high-pressure water jets. The unit is not rated for submersion. For consistent outdoor deployment, install in a temperature-controlled outdoor cabinet to keep the unit within its operating temperature range (32 to 122 degrees F).
Pacemaker Patients Per HeartSine's user manual, the presence of a pacemaker should not affect AED functioning. However, to avoid damaging the pacemaker, place defibrillation pads at least 3.1 inches (8 cm) away from any visible pacemaker. The AED's pad placement diagrams provide standard adult positioning.

Is the HeartSine 360P safe to use? What if the rescuer is still touching the patient when the shock fires?

Yes. The 360P includes a Motion Detection Algorithm specifically designed for this scenario. During the 3-second voice countdown before shock delivery, the AED continuously monitors the impedance signal through the electrodes to detect ongoing contact between the rescuer and the patient. If motion is detected, the 360P aborts the shock and announces "Motion detected, do not touch the patient." The shock is only delivered when the patient is electrically isolated. This is a fundamental safety design feature of fully-automatic AEDs and is one reason the FDA approved the 360P under Premarket Approval (PMA).
