Genuine OEM Defibtech pediatric defibrillation electrode pads for the Lifeline (DDU-100) and Lifeline AUTO AEDs. The Defibtech Lifeline Pediatric AED Pads (SKU DDP-200P) are the manufacturer-authorized pediatric defibrillation electrodes for the Defibtech Lifeline (DDU-100) and Lifeline AUTO AEDs. Defibtech LLC manufactures these pads to specifically deliver an attenuated, pediatric-appropriate shock energy through the same AED your organization already deploys. The energy reduction is engineered into the pad itself, not the AED, so the same clinical AED can respond to both adult and pediatric emergencies with the correct pad set connected.
Every pediatric pad set ships with at least 12 months of remaining shelf life from date of receipt. Defibtech pads carry a 2-year shelf life from manufacture, and we rotate stock aggressively to give AED program managers the longest possible replacement cycle. Follow current AHA/ILCOR pediatric AED guidance: use pediatric pads for children under 8 years old or under 55 lbs (25 kg). For patients 8 years or older, or over 55 lbs, use the adult DDP-100 pads. If pediatric pads are not available and the patient is in cardiac arrest, adult pads may be used on a child as a last resort per AHA guidance, but pediatric pads are always preferred when available.

How to identify your Defibtech AED model: Check the label on the back or bottom of the AED. Standard Lifeline units are labeled "Lifeline" or "DDU-100" and are the more compact form factor. Lifeline VIEW units are labeled "Lifeline VIEW" or "DDU-2300" and have a full-color video LCD screen on the front. Lifeline AUTO is the fully-automatic variant of the standard Lifeline (labeled "Lifeline AUTO"). If the label is unclear, the AED's serial number can identify the model at Defibtech customer service (888) 228-7564 or Total AEDs (855) 286-6384.
Order this DDP-200P pad set when: your Defibtech AED is a Lifeline (DDU-100) or Lifeline AUTO, your program serves children under 8 years old or under 55 lbs, and your AED software is confirmed to be version 1.203 or later.

Pediatric pads should be stored pre-connected to the AED so the AED's daily self-test verifies pad connection status. Alternately, store the sealed pediatric pad set in the AED carrying case for rapid deployment during a pediatric emergency. Installation into the AED takes under one minute; rescue deployment during an emergency takes seconds if pads are already connected.

Only as a last resort when pediatric pads are unavailable. Per current AHA guidance, if a child is in cardiac arrest and pediatric pads are not available, adult pads may be used because any defibrillation attempt is better than none. However, pediatric pads (like the DDP-200P) are always preferred when available because they attenuate the shock energy to a level appropriate for a child's smaller body. Every AED program that could respond to a pediatric emergency should stock pediatric pads alongside the standard adult pads to eliminate this trade-off.
The manufacturer's shelf life is 2 years from date of manufacture. The expiration date is printed on the outer foil pouch in YYYY-MM format; the pads must be replaced before the end of the stated month. If pads are stored in extreme temperature conditions (unheated storage rooms, outdoor cabinets in hot climates, vehicles), effective shelf life may be shorter than the manufacturer's 2-year rating. Include monthly expiration checks in your AED inspection routine. Total AEDs guarantees at least 12 months of remaining shelf life at time of shipment.
The pouch and pad packaging include printed placement diagrams. For infants and small children where standard adult-style anterior-lateral placement would cause the pads to overlap, use anterior-posterior (front-and-back) placement: one pad on the center of the chest and one pad on the center of the back between the shoulder blades. For larger children where anterior-lateral fits without overlap, use standard adult placement (right upper chest and left lower ribs). Follow the AED's voice prompts, which will guide the responder through the correct placement for the specific rescue.
Between adult and pediatric: NO. Adult DDP-100 pads deliver full defibrillation energy; pediatric DDP-200P pads attenuate the energy to a pediatric-appropriate level via built-in circuitry. The two pad types are physically compatible with the same AED pad port but electrically different, and the AED needs the correct pad type for the patient's age and weight. Between AED platforms: NO. The DDP-100 and DDP-200P fit the Lifeline (DDU-100) and Lifeline AUTO only. The Lifeline VIEW (DDU-2300), Lifeline ECG, and Lifeline PRO use different pad SKUs (DDP-2001 adult and DDP-2002 pediatric) that are not physically interchangeable with the DDU-100 platform.
Verify your AED is a Lifeline (DDU-100) or Lifeline AUTO with software version 1.203 or later. Open the AED. If adult pads are currently connected, disconnect them at the pad port and set aside for reuse if unexpired. Plug the pediatric pad connector into the same pad port; the connectors are non-polarized so orientation does not matter. The AED will recognize the pediatric pads at the next power-on or self-test cycle. Confirm the AED shows a "ready" status (or its equivalent) after installation. For mixed-population programs, most AED managers keep adult pads pre-connected as the primary set and store the pediatric pads in the AED's carrying case for rapid deployment.

Every AED program with any realistic chance of responding to a pediatric emergency should stock pediatric pads alongside the standard adult pads. The list of settings where children may be present is broader than most program managers initially assume.
Elementary schools, middle schools, and even high schools all have populations that include children under 8 years old or under 55 lbs (visiting siblings, community events, after-school programs serving multiple ages). Every school AED should include a pediatric pad set as standard equipment.
Facilities primarily serving children under 8 should keep pediatric pads as the primary connected pad set on their Defibtech Lifeline AEDs, with adult pads stored as a spare for adult staff emergencies.
Youth football, baseball, soccer, and hockey organizations serve children who may weigh less than 55 lbs, particularly in the younger age brackets. Commotio cordis (chest-impact cardiac arrest) is a recognized cause of sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes and can affect even fit, healthy children.
Pediatricians, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and other providers who see child patients should have pediatric pads on their Defibtech Lifeline AEDs even if adult patients are also seen. The pediatric pad set is the appropriate primary configuration for these settings.
Family entertainment centers, movie theaters, community pools, indoor playgrounds, trampoline parks, and similar venues serving families with young children need pediatric pads. Any workplace with on-site childcare has the same requirement.
Churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and community centers host services and events where families with young children are present. Weddings, funerals, and community meals routinely include children under 8. A pediatric pad set on the facility's Defibtech Lifeline is inexpensive insurance.
