Product Overview

The Defibtech Lifeline Adult AED Pads (part number DDP-100) are the manufacturer-authorized adult electrode for the original Defibtech Lifeline (DDU-100, semi-automatic) and Lifeline AUTO (DDU-120, fully automatic). This is the yellow-cased, standard Defibtech platform, not the newer video-screen Lifeline VIEW or Lifeline ECG, which take a different pad entirely.

The Pads Do the Sensing, Not Just the Shocking

DDP-100 pads are pre-connected, single-use, non-polarized, self-adhesive electrodes with a nominal surface area of 103 cm² (16 sq in) per pad. Through these pads, the AED assesses the impedance between the two electrodes to confirm proper pad-to-patient contact, and analyzes the patient's ECG to determine whether a shockable rhythm is present. The pads are not a passive delivery mechanism for the shock; they are how the AED reads the patient in the first place.

Non-Polarized Design, Store Connected

Because the pads are non-polarized, either pad can be placed in either the sternum (upper-right chest) or apex (lower-left chest) position without a specific orientation requirement. Defibtech designs the DDU-100 and DDU-120 to be stored with the pad connector already installed, so the AED is rescue-ready the moment the case is opened. The connector is keyed to fit the AED's single Pads Connector Port only one way, which prevents an incorrect connection during a routine pad swap.

Defibtech's pad lineup splits two ways: which AED platform you own, and whether the patient is an adult or a child. DDP-100 answers the first question for the original Lifeline platform; the second determines which of the two DDP-100-family pads you need.

Installation and Rescue Deployment

Defibtech designed the DDU-100 and DDU-120 so a pad swap takes under a minute and does not require opening the case beyond the pad storage compartment. The steps below reflect standard practice for this platform; always confirm against your Defibtech user manual for the procedure specific to your exact unit.

Confirm your AED is a Lifeline or Lifeline AUTO, not a Lifeline VIEW. DDP-100 fits the standard, non-video-screen DDU-100 series only. If your AED has a video display, stop and order DDP-2001 instead.
Inspect the new package on arrival. Verify the sealed foil pouch is undamaged and check the expiration date printed on the outside. Record it in your maintenance log.
Unplug the old pad connector. Disconnect the previous pad set's connector from the AED's Pads Connector Port.
Remove the old pouch from the pad storage compartment. Slide the used or expired package out of its storage area on the unit.
Insert the new connector. The connector is keyed to fit the Pads Connector Port only one way; if it does not seat, rotate it and try again rather than forcing it.
Store the sealed pouch in the pad compartment. Tuck the cable into its groove so the case closes cleanly and the AED remains rescue-ready.
Confirm the connection succeeded. After connecting, check that the AED's Active Status Indicator shows a normal (typically green) status. A fault indication means the connection or the unit itself needs attention before the AED can be considered ready.
During a rescue: expose the patient's bare chest and tear open the pouch. Do not open the package until the pads are actually needed; opened pads dry out and lose effectiveness.
Apply the pads per the printed diagrams. The pads are non-polarized, so either pad can go in either the sternum or apex position.
Follow the AED's voice prompts through rhythm analysis, shock delivery if advised, and CPR intervals.
