The Cardiac Science Wall-mounted AED Wire Rack (MPN 170-2146-001) is the manufacturer's economical wall-mount storage for the Cardiac Science Powerheart AED family. Built from durable wire with a nylon retention strap, the rack holds the AED openly against the wall no cabinet door, no alarm, no enclosure.
The open wire design serves one purpose: maximum retrieval speed. With sudden cardiac arrest survival dropping roughly 7 to 10 percent for every minute without defibrillation, anything between the rescuer and the AED costs survival odds. The wire rack eliminates the door, the latch, and the seconds it takes to open them. The nylon strap secures the AED so it stays seated on the rack between rescues.
The trade-off is no theft deterrence, no tamper alarm, and no protection from dust or accidental impact. For facilities that need active security or alarmed storage, an enclosed cabinet is the right step up. For supervised areas, training rooms, back-of-house storage, and other controlled-access spaces, the wire rack offers the fastest, lowest-cost path to AED-readiness.
The 170-2146-001 wire rack is designed for the Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 family. The rack's wire geometry and strap location are sized to the G3 chassis profile.
This wire rack is designed to hold the AED without its soft carry case. The AED sits directly on the wire frame, secured by the nylon strap. If your facility stores the AED inside its carry case, the rack will not retain the device securely choose the Cardiac Science wall-mount sleeve instead, which is designed for cased storage.
Cardiac Science offers three approaches to wall-mount storage for the Powerheart AED. The right choice depends on whether the AED is stored in its carry case, how much theft protection you need, and how visible you want the device to be.
The 170-2146-001 is a surface-mount wire rack no wall cutout, no electrical work, no specialized tools. Total install time is typically 20 to 30 minutes with a stud finder, level, drill, and screwdriver. Mounting hardware is included with the rack.
U.S. state laws on AED placement, signage, and registration vary. The Cardiac Science Wall-mounted AED Wire Rack meets equipment-side requirements for visible AED storage in every state. Note that some states and facility types require alarmed cabinet storage in those cases, an open wire rack alone is not sufficient. Verify your state and facility requirements before purchasing.
AED registration with local EMS required. Monthly readiness checks must be logged. Signage and AED location notification to building occupants required (Health & Safety Code §1797.196).
AED owners must register with the regional EMS council. Health care facilities and public schools have additional signage and training requirements (Public Health Law §3000-b).

Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency Preparedness Act requires AEDs in fitness facilities with trained staff. Public schools (K-12) require AEDs on premises.
