The XELAED001B (standard) and XELAED002B (iCPR) pads on this page fit the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED only. They do NOT fit any Powerheart G3 family AED (G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, FirstSave, Survivalink, or 9200/9300/9390 models).
If your Powerheart AED is a G3-family model, order the correct SKU on our Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads catalog page instead, or call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for help identifying your AED model.
Genuine OEM adult defibrillation electrode pads for the Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED. Two configurations available: standard Intellisense adult pads (XELAED001B) and Intellisense adult pads with integrated iCPR real-time compression feedback (XELAED002B). Both configurations include the Intellisense smart chip that communicates directly with the Powerheart G5 AED, allowing the AED to automatically read pad expiration, energy configuration, and rescue protocol. Compatible with both Semi-Automatic and Fully-Automatic Powerheart G5 variants. Every set ships fresh from Total AEDs with a guaranteed minimum 12 months of remaining shelf life.
The Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 Adult Defibrillation Electrode Pads are the manufacturer-authorized adult electrode pads for the Powerheart G5 AED. Cardiac Science is now a ZOLL Medical Corporation brand (ZOLL acquired Cardiac Science in 2019), and both companies continue to manufacture and support the Powerheart G5 pad line. Total AEDs stocks both available G5 adult pad configurations:
Adult Intellisense Defibrillation Pads. Standard adult electrodes with smart chip for AED communication. The most common G5 replacement pad configuration.
Adult Intellisense Pads with iCPR Feedback. Adds real-time CPR feedback (rate, depth, recoil) via integrated sensor puck. The G5 auto-recognizes the sensor and coaches the rescuer.
Every Powerheart G5 pad set ships with at least 12 months of remaining shelf life from date of receipt. Cardiac Science pads carry a 2-year manufacturer's shelf life, and we rotate stock aggressively to give AED program managers the longest possible replacement cycle. If you receive pads with less than 12 months remaining, contact Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for immediate exchange at no charge.
Every G5 adult pad (both XELAED001B and XELAED002B) has an Intellisense smart chip embedded in the connector. When the pads are connected to the Powerheart G5 AED, the smart chip communicates the pad's expiration date, energy configuration, and (for iCPR pads) the CPR feedback capability. The G5 AED uses this information to perform Rescue Ready daily self-tests, alert program managers as expiration approaches, and automatically enable iCPR feedback when compatible pads are detected. This automation is unique to the G5 platform and reduces the manual monitoring burden on AED program managers.
Both G5 adult pad configurations use non-polarized Intellisense technology. Either pad can be placed in either chest position (apex or sternum) without concern for orientation. During a real rescue, this design reduces cognitive load on the responder and can save critical seconds compared to polarized pad designs that require specific pad-to-position matching.
The Powerheart G5 is manufactured in two operator variants: Semi-Automatic (responder presses the shock button when prompted) and Fully-Automatic (AED delivers the shock automatically after countdown). Both XELAED001B and XELAED002B pads fit both G5 variants without modification. The pad configuration itself does not change between Semi-Auto and Fully-Auto AEDs; the difference is entirely in the AED's shock delivery workflow.
Cardiac Science and ZOLL have issued industry advisories warning against unbranded or third-party electrode pads sold for use with Powerheart G5 AEDs. Aftermarket pads may lack the Intellisense smart chip required for proper G5 AED communication, which can cause the AED to fail its Rescue Ready self-test and remain non-functional. Total AEDs sources only genuine OEM Cardiac Science / ZOLL pads through authorized distribution channels. Every set arrives factory-sealed in the original Cardiac Science / ZOLL packaging with the correct part number and current manufacturer's expiration date.
Every Powerheart G5 program should stock at least one spare adult pad set on hand so the AED can be redeployed rapidly after a rescue. For programs that may respond to pediatric emergencies (schools, family venues, workplaces with on-site childcare), also stock a Powerheart G5 pediatric pad set. Call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for pediatric pad availability. If your program deploys both G5 and G3 units across multiple facilities, order G3 replacement pads from the Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads catalog.
Each set of Powerheart G5 Adult Defibrillation Electrode Pads from Total AEDs ships ready for direct Powerheart G5 installation. The iCPR variant (XELAED002B) includes an additional CPR feedback sensor:
The pad set does not include a Powerheart G5 AED (the pads are consumables for existing AED owners), a G5 battery (batteries and pads have separate replacement cycles), pediatric pads (adult and pediatric are separate SKUs), a carrying case, or Cardiac Science AEDSafetrack program management software. To build a complete Powerheart G5 replacement bundle, call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384.
Both G5 adult pad SKUs deliver the same defibrillation performance. The decision comes down to whether your program values real-time CPR compression feedback during rescues. The XELAED002B iCPR variant adds coaching prompts on rate, depth, and recoil; the XELAED001B standard configuration does not.
Order XELAED001B when: your Powerheart G5 program does not use CPR feedback pads, your responders receive training on high-quality compression via other means (BLS certification, in-person coaching, external CPR feedback devices), or you need to control the per-pad cost across a large multi-unit fleet. This is the most common G5 replacement pad configuration.
Order XELAED002B when: your Powerheart G5 program values real-time compression coaching during actual rescues, your responder team varies in CPR experience (mixed lay-responder + trained responders), or your program has a high-quality-CPR performance goal aligned with current AHA guidance. The iCPR feedback runs continuously during CPR intervals between shock cycles and coaches the responder toward 100-120 BPM compression rate with adequate depth and complete recoil. To train your responders on the iCPR feedback workflow before deployment, see the matched Powerheart G5 AED Simulator with iCPR Device.
If you're not sure whether your G5 is Semi-Auto or Fully-Auto: Check the front of the AED. Semi-Automatic units have a physical shock button that the responder presses when prompted. Fully-Automatic units count down and deliver the shock automatically (no button press required). Both variants accept the same XELAED001B and XELAED002B pads without any configuration change.
Cardiac Science recommends storing G5 pads in the "Rescue Ready" configuration: pre-connected to the AED so the smart chip communicates with the G5 during daily self-tests. Pad replacement takes under two minutes and does not require tools or the AED being powered off.
2 years from date of manufacture. The expiration date is printed on the front of the electrode package and also encoded in the Intellisense smart chip so the Powerheart G5 AED can automatically monitor expiration during daily self-tests and alert program managers as the date approaches. Total AEDs guarantees at least 12 months of remaining shelf life at time of shipment. If pads are stored in extreme temperature conditions (unheated storage, hot vehicles, outdoor cabinets), effective shelf life may be shorter than the manufacturer's 2-year rating.
No. The Powerheart G5 and Powerheart G3 use different pad connectors and are physically incompatible. G5 pads (XELAED001B standard, XELAED002B iCPR) fit the Powerheart G5 ONLY. G3-family AEDs (G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, FirstSave, Survivalink, 9200/9300/9390/9200RD) require the different SKU 9131-001 pads instead. There is no adapter or conversion cable that allows cross-platform use. If you own a G3-family AED, order from the Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads catalog.
Two locations. First, the date is printed on the front of the electrode package for visual monthly inspection. Second, the date is encoded in the Intellisense smart chip embedded in the pad connector, so the Powerheart G5 AED reads the expiration date automatically during its daily self-test. The G5 will alert program managers via visual and audible signals as the expiration date approaches. This dual visibility (printed + smart chip) is unique to the G5 platform and reduces the chance of missed expiration.
Only as a last resort when pediatric pads are unavailable. Per current AHA guidance, if a child is in cardiac arrest and pediatric pads are not available, adult pads may be used because any defibrillation attempt is better than none. However, pediatric pads (which attenuate the shock energy to a level appropriate for children under 8 years or under 55 lbs) are always preferred when available. Every Powerheart G5 program that could respond to a pediatric emergency should stock G5 pediatric pads alongside the adult pads on this page. Call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for G5 pediatric pad availability.
Open the G5 to access the pad connector port next to the battery compartment. Disconnect the old pads by pulling the connector straight out of the port. Insert the new pad connector (keyed for correct orientation) and press until it clicks into place. Allow the G5 to complete a self-test cycle; the AED reads the new pads' Intellisense smart chip and confirms Rescue Ready status. The AED does not need to be powered off during pad replacement, and no tools are required. Total replacement time is typically under two minutes. Store the new sealed pad packaging inside the G5 in the Rescue Ready configuration until an actual rescue is needed.
Genuine OEM. Total AEDs sources Powerheart G5 adult pads only through authorized Cardiac Science / ZOLL distribution channels. Every set arrives factory-sealed in the original manufacturer's packaging with the correct part number (XELAED001B or XELAED002B) and current expiration date. We do not stock aftermarket, unbranded, or third-party pads for the Powerheart G5. Cardiac Science and ZOLL have issued industry advisories warning against aftermarket pads because they may lack the Intellisense smart chip required for G5 AED communication; we take those advisories seriously.
Yes. Every genuine Cardiac Science / ZOLL Powerheart G5 pad includes the Intellisense smart chip embedded in the pad connector. This is what makes G5 pads specifically G5-compatible; the smart chip communicates the pad's expiration date, energy configuration, and rescue protocol to the G5 AED. Both XELAED001B (standard) and XELAED002B (iCPR) include the smart chip. If you receive pads that appear to be missing the smart-chip connector or fail to communicate with your G5, contact Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 immediately for replacement; genuine OEM pads always include working smart chips.
Yes. Both XELAED001B and XELAED002B fit the Powerheart G5 Fully-Automatic and Semi-Automatic variants without modification. The AED's automatic vs semi-automatic operation refers to how the G5 delivers the shock (automatic countdown vs responder button press), not to the pad configuration. Both G5 variants use the same electrode port, the same smart-chip communication protocol, and the same rescue workflow. If your organization operates a mix of Semi-Auto and Fully-Auto G5 units, the same pad SKUs work across the entire fleet.
Standard ground shipping (free on orders $149+) typically delivers within 2-5 business days to most U.S. destinations depending on your location relative to our fulfillment center. Expedited shipping is available; call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 to arrange next-day or 2-day delivery. If your current pads have already expired, your G5 is not currently rescue-ready and you should treat replacement as urgent; in the meantime, if you have a spare set stored anywhere in the facility, use them immediately to restore rescue readiness while the replacement order ships. See the full shipping policy for details on transit times, expedited options, and geographic exclusions.
The Powerheart G5 is Cardiac Science / ZOLL's current-production public-access AED, deployed across workplaces, schools, healthcare facilities, and community programs throughout the United States. The G5's Intellisense smart-chip integration reduces the program-management burden compared to the older G3 platform, particularly for larger multi-unit deployments.
OSHA does not mandate AED programs but recommends them as part of a comprehensive emergency action plan (29 CFR 1910.38). Documenting your replacement pad schedule and current expiration dates supports program compliance audits. The G5's smart-chip pad monitoring generates an automatic replacement-signal event that program managers can log for compliance documentation.
Schools with Powerheart G5 AEDs should stock both adult pads (this product) and pediatric pads together. Even elementary schools have populations that include family members, community-event attendees, and staff who may require adult defibrillation. Include pediatric pad procurement in your annual budget alongside adult pad replacement. State AED-in-schools legislation continues to expand in coverage.
Programs pursuing AHA guideline-consistent high-quality CPR should consider the XELAED002B iCPR pads. The real-time compression feedback (rate, depth, recoil) coaches the rescuer through the CPR cycle and improves compression quality even for well-trained responders under stress. Pair with the Powerheart G5 AED Simulator with iCPR Device for pre-deployment responder training on the iCPR workflow.
Programs with 10+ Powerheart G5 units benefit most from the smart-chip pad monitoring. Cardiac Science AEDSafetrack Program Management software (sold separately) consolidates smart-chip data across the fleet so program managers can see all pad and battery expiration dates on a single dashboard rather than manually inspecting each AED cabinet.
Hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and outpatient facilities deploying the Powerheart G5 benefit from matched training with the Powerheart G5 AED Trainer for responder practice. Healthcare programs may also stock the iCPR variant (XELAED002B) to give clinical staff continuous CPR feedback during code response cycles.
Organizations that deployed Cardiac Science AEDs over multiple years may operate mixed fleets containing both Powerheart G3 legacy units and Powerheart G5 current-production units. Stock the correct pad SKU for each platform: XELAED001B or XELAED002B for G5, and SKU 9131-001 (available from the Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads catalog) for G3-family units. Label pad boxes with the destination AED serial number to prevent cross-fleet installation errors.
