For most new program buyers, the answer is no the G5 is the current production model and the long-term parts story is significantly better. But the G3 remains a legitimate choice in three specific buyer scenarios, summarized in the comparison below.
For first-time AED program buyers, the refurbished Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 is the safer long-term choice same operational interface, active manufacturer support, and a parts-availability story that doesn't have a phase-out clock running. The G3 introduced one of the most thorough automated self-test protocols in the AED industry. Daily checks verify battery voltage, electronics, and pad-to-device connection. The Powerheart G3 meets clinical and regulatory requirements for AED ownership in every U.S. state.
