Products ship in original manufacturer packaging with full OEM warranty.
G3 pads and G5 pads are NOT interchangeable. Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 and Powerheart G5 use different pad connectors and are physically incompatible. G3 pads (SKU 9131-001) fit the G3 family only; G5 pads (SKU XELAED001B) fit the Powerheart G5 only.
If you're unsure which Powerheart AED your program owns, call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 with your AED's serial number ready and we'll route you to the correct SKU before you order.
Genuine OEM adult defibrillation electrode pads for Cardiac Science Powerheart AEDs. Three SKUs available covering both the G3 family (Powerheart G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, plus legacy FirstSave and Survivalink units) and the newer Powerheart G5 platform, including the iCPR-equipped G5 configuration. All configurations use IntelliSense non-polarized pad technology so either electrode can be placed in either chest position, reducing rescuer confusion during time-critical rescues. Every set ships fresh from Total AEDs with a guaranteed minimum 12 months of remaining shelf life.
The Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads are the manufacturer-authorized adult defibrillation electrodes for the Powerheart family of AEDs. Cardiac Science is now a ZOLL Medical Corporation brand (ZOLL acquired Cardiac Science in 2019), and both companies continue to manufacture and support the Powerheart pad line. Total AEDs stocks three distinct SKUs across the Powerheart G3 and G5 platforms:
Powerheart G3 Adult Pads for the G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, FirstSave, Survivalink, and legacy 9200/9300/9390/9200RD models.
Powerheart G5 Adult Intellisense Pads for the Powerheart G5 AED. Includes smart chip for expiration tracking by the AED.
Powerheart G5 Adult iCPR Pads for the Powerheart G5 AED with real-time CPR feedback (rate, depth, recoil coaching).
Every Cardiac Science pad set ships with at least 12 months of remaining shelf life from date of receipt. Cardiac Science pads carry a 2-year manufacturer's shelf life, and we rotate stock aggressively to give AED program managers the longest possible replacement cycle. If you receive pads with less than 12 months remaining, contact Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for immediate exchange at no charge.
All three SKUs use Cardiac Science's IntelliSense non-polarized pad technology. This means either pad can be placed in either chest position (apex or sternum) without concern for orientation. During a real rescue, this design reduces cognitive load on the responder and can save critical seconds compared to polarized pad designs that require specific pad-to-position matching.
The Powerheart G5 platform reads pad expiration dates directly from a smart chip embedded in the pad's connector. The G5 AED actively monitors pad expiration and issues audible and visual alerts as expiration approaches. The G3 platform does not have this smart-chip verification, so G3 programs must rely on manual monthly inspection of the expiration date printed on the electrode package. If your program deploys G3 units, calendar-based inspection reminders are essential.
Cardiac Science and ZOLL have issued industry advisories warning against unbranded or third-party electrode pads sold for use with Powerheart AEDs. Aftermarket pads may lack the IntelliSense technology required for proper AED communication and may fail during rescue. Total AEDs sources only genuine OEM Cardiac Science / ZOLL pads through authorized distribution channels. Every set arrives factory-sealed in the original Cardiac Science / ZOLL packaging with the correct part number and current manufacturer's expiration date.
Every Powerheart AED program should stock at least one spare set of adult pads on hand so the AED can be redeployed rapidly after a rescue. For programs that may respond to pediatric emergencies (schools, family venues, workplaces with on-site childcare), also stock a Cardiac Science pediatric pad set matched to your Powerheart platform. Call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for pediatric pad availability.
Each set of Cardiac Science Adult AED Electrode Pads from Total AEDs ships ready for direct AED installation. Package contents are consistent across the three SKUs, with the iCPR variant (XELAED002B) including additional CPR feedback hardware:
The pad set does not include a Cardiac Science AED (the pads are consumables for existing AED owners), a battery (batteries and pads have separate replacement cycles), pediatric pads (adult and pediatric are separate SKUs), a carrying case, or the Cardiac Science AEDSafetrack Program Management software. To build a complete replacement bundle for your Powerheart maintenance schedule, call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384.
The decision depends entirely on which Powerheart AED your program owns. Confirm the model before ordering; if you're unsure, the AED's serial number can identify the model.
Order SKU 9131-001 when: your Powerheart AED is a G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, FirstSave, Survivalink, or legacy 9200/9300/9390/9200RD model. Note that the G3 clinical AED is no longer being manufactured, but replacement pads continue to be produced by Cardiac Science / ZOLL and Total AEDs stocks them for the many G3 units still in active service.
Order SKU XELAED001B when: your Powerheart AED is a Powerheart G5 (semi-automatic or fully-automatic variant) and your program uses the standard adult pad configuration (no CPR feedback).
Order SKU XELAED002B when: your Powerheart AED is a Powerheart G5 and your program values real-time CPR compression coaching. The iCPR pads add rate, depth, and recoil feedback to guide rescuers through compressions matching current AHA guidance. To train responders on the iCPR feedback workflow, see the matched Powerheart G5 AED Simulator with iCPR Device.
If you're not sure which Powerheart platform you own: Check the front of the clinical AED. G3-family devices say "Powerheart G3," "G3 Plus," "G3 Pro," or "FirstSave" prominently. G5 devices say "Powerheart G5." If the label is worn or unclear, the AED's serial number can identify the model. Call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for help before ordering the wrong pad set.
Cardiac Science recommends storing pads in the "Rescue Ready" configuration: pre-connected to the AED so the daily self-test verifies pad connection integrity. Installation into the AED takes under one minute; rescue deployment during an emergency takes seconds when pads are already connected.
2 years from date of manufacture. The expiration date is printed on the front of the electrode package. Powerheart G5 users get automated alerts via the pad's smart chip as expiration approaches; G3 users must rely on manual inspection because the G3 platform does not have smart-chip verification. Total AEDs guarantees at least 12 months of remaining shelf life at time of shipment. If pads are stored in extreme temperature conditions (unheated storage, hot vehicles, outdoor cabinets), effective shelf life may be shorter than the manufacturer's 2-year rating.
No. The Powerheart G3 and Powerheart G5 use different pad connectors and are physically incompatible. G3 family pads are SKU 9131-001 and fit the G3, G3 Plus, G3 Pro, FirstSave, Survivalink, and legacy 9200/9300/9390/9200RD models only. G5 pads are SKU XELAED001B (standard) or XELAED002B (with iCPR feedback) and fit the Powerheart G5 only. There is no adapter or conversion cable that allows cross-platform use. Verify your AED model before ordering to avoid buying the wrong pad set.
Only as a last resort when pediatric pads are unavailable. Per current AHA guidance, if a child is in cardiac arrest and pediatric pads are not available, adult pads may be used because any defibrillation attempt is better than none. However, pediatric pads (which reduce shock energy to a level appropriate for children under 8 years or under 55 lbs) are always preferred when available. Every Powerheart program that could respond to a pediatric emergency should stock Cardiac Science pediatric pads matched to the AED platform (G3 or G5). Call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 for pediatric pad availability and correct SKU routing.
The expiration date is printed on the front of the electrode package. Additionally, Powerheart G5 pads (XELAED001B and XELAED002B) include a smart chip that reports expiration date directly to the G5 AED, which then displays expiration alerts as the date approaches. G3 pads (9131-001) do not have this smart-chip feature; G3 programs must manually inspect the printed date each month. Best practice: write the expiration date on your AED inspection log at each pad replacement and set a calendar reminder for the next replacement cycle.
Genuine OEM. Total AEDs sources Cardiac Science adult pads only through authorized Cardiac Science / ZOLL distribution channels. Every set arrives factory-sealed in the original manufacturer's packaging with the correct part number (9131-001, XELAED001B, or XELAED002B) and current expiration date. We do not stock aftermarket, unbranded, or third-party pads. Cardiac Science and ZOLL have issued industry advisories warning against aftermarket pads because they may fail during rescue; we take those advisories seriously.
Stock rotation is continuous, so the specific expiration date on your shipment depends on when your order ships. Total AEDs guarantees at least 12 months of remaining shelf life at time of shipment. For most orders, the actual remaining shelf life will exceed 12 months. If you need a specific expiration date range for a compliance audit or program renewal schedule, call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 before ordering and we can confirm the expiration date of the pads currently in inventory.
Yes, the G3 family pads (SKU 9131-001) fit the full Powerheart G3 clinical AED line: G3, G3 Plus, and G3 Pro, plus the legacy FirstSave, Survivalink, and 9200/9300/9390/9200RD models. All G3-family AEDs share the same electrode port design and use the same IntelliSense pad connector. The 9131-001 SKU is the universal G3 platform adult pad. Note: this SKU does NOT fit the newer Powerheart G5. For G5 pads, order XELAED001B (standard) or XELAED002B (with iCPR feedback).
Yes. Cardiac Science pads use a clinical-grade adhesive gel designed to maintain pad contact during vigorous chest compressions. The pads are engineered for the specific mechanical stress of active CPR, including compression rates of 100-120 BPM at typical compression depth. In real-world rescue conditions on typical adult patients, pad adhesion is reliable throughout the resuscitation. If a pad does become dislodged during a rescue (which is uncommon), it can typically be repositioned; the AED will alert if pad contact is lost.
Standard ground shipping (free on orders $149+) typically delivers within 2-5 business days depending on your location. Expedited shipping is available; call Total AEDs at (855) 286-6384 to arrange next-day or 2-day delivery. If your pads have already expired, your AED is not currently rescue-ready and you should treat replacement as urgent. In the meantime, if you have a spare set stored anywhere in the facility, use them immediately to restore rescue readiness while the replacement order ships. See the full shipping policy for details on transit times.
No. All three SKUs (9131-001, XELAED001B, XELAED002B) come pre-connected with a cable and connector that plugs directly into the correct AED's electrode port. For G3-family AEDs, the 9131-001 connector mates directly with the G3 port. For G5 AEDs, the XELAED001B and XELAED002B connectors mate directly with the G5 port and include the smart chip that communicates with the AED. No adapter, cable extension, or intermediate hardware is required. Just verify you're ordering the correct SKU for your AED platform before you order.
Cardiac Science Powerheart programs span the full range of AED deployments in the U.S. market. The G3 family was one of the most widely-deployed workplace AEDs from the mid-2000s onward, and many G3 units remain in active service today despite the clinical AED itself being discontinued. The Powerheart G5 (current production) serves modern deployments including bilingual and iCPR-equipped configurations.
Organizations that deployed Powerheart G3 clinical AEDs between the mid-2000s and 2014 continue to maintain those units. Replacement adult pads (9131-001) remain in active production. The G3 platform lacks the smart-chip expiration monitoring of the newer G5, so G3 programs must rely on rigorous manual inspection cycles. Include pad expiration in every monthly AED walk-through.
Programs currently deploying the Powerheart G5 clinical AED benefit from smart-chip pad monitoring: the AED itself tracks expiration and alerts program managers as pads approach replacement. This automation reduces the chance of a missed inspection cycle. Pair with the training Powerheart G5 AED Trainer for matched-brand responder training.
Programs that value real-time CPR quality coaching should specify the XELAED002B iCPR pads for their Powerheart G5 units. The pads deliver corrective voice prompts for compression rate, depth, and recoil, supporting AHA/ERC guideline-consistent CPR. To train responders on iCPR feedback workflows before deployment, see the matched Powerheart G5 AED Simulator with iCPR Device.
OSHA does not mandate AED programs but recommends them as part of a comprehensive emergency action plan (29 CFR 1910.38). Documenting your replacement pad schedule and current expiration dates supports program compliance audits. Cardiac Science AEDSafetrack Program Management software (sold separately) can help track pad and battery lifecycles for larger multi-unit programs.
Schools with Powerheart AEDs should stock both adult pads (this product) and pediatric pads together. Even elementary schools have populations that include family members and community-event attendees who may require adult defibrillation. Include pediatric pad procurement in your annual budget alongside adult pad replacement.
Training programs that teach responders across multiple AED brands can use the Cardiac Science training products alongside cross-brand alternatives. Pair with the Cardiac Science Full-Size AED Trainer (G3 family), the Powerheart G3 Simulator (accessory for clinical G3/G3 Pro), and the Powerheart G5 Trainer for full Cardiac Science platform coverage.
